Tango Festival 'O Abraço da Noite' Launches Inclusive Dark-Experience in Brasília

From August 6 to 9, the Sobradinho district of Brasília hosted the tango festival “O Abraço da Noite.” Conceived by architect, musician and artistic director Mario Emiliano Miskiewiez, the event offered a novel sensory experience performed entirely in darkness. By suspending vision, the programme invited audiences to perceive space, time and presence through sound, narration and movement.

The free festival combined live orchestra, dancers, theatre and original dramaturgy, while also providing accessible tango classes for people with visual impairments and wheelchair users. The immersive evenings aimed to reflect on absence in a society saturated with information and speed, promoting inclusion and new ways of artistic perception.
