Tanguy Nianzou joins Lille from Sevilla in €5.5 million salary‑saving transfer

French club Lille confirmed the signing of French defender Tanguy Nianzou on a contract running to summer 2028, with an option for an additional year. Nianzou terminated 70% of his salary to facilitate the move, giving Sevilla an estimated €5.5 million wage relief. Sevilla had originally acquired the 22‑year‑old in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich for a €16 million fee plus €4 million in variables, and he made 62 official appearances for the Spanish side. Injuries and limited playing time made his stint at Sevilla costly, prompting the club to off‑load him.

Lille president Olivier Létang announced the deal, noting Nianzou’s potential to strengthen their defence. Reports suggest Bayern may receive additional payments, including possible €4 million bonuses and a resale clause exceeding 20%, though sources dispute whether any bonus will be due if Sevilla released the player without a transfer fee.

The transfer illustrates Sevilla’s effort to reduce its wage bill and Lille’s aim to bolster its back line ahead of the Ligue 1 season.
