Veracruz legislator denies allegations of illegal salary payments

In Veracruz, Morena legislator Dorheny García Cayetano has denied allegations of demanding illegal payments, known as ‘moches’, from her staff. The accusations were filed by former collaborator José Alberto Flores Hernández, who claims he was required to hand over portions of his salary. García Cayetano maintains that the complaint is a retaliatory move following the loss of expensive photographic equipment and has threatened legal action for moral damages.

Related scrutiny has emerged regarding Diddage García Cayetano, the sister of the legislator, who holds a position at the State Environmental Protection Agency (PMA) with a monthly gross salary exceeding 34,000 pesos. Public records indicate her appointment as a trusted official in 2025, following previous questions regarding the movement of former staff from the Ministry of Labor to the PMA.

In separate regional news, Roxanna Hernández Ramírez has been appointed as the head of the Secretariat for Women and Substantive Equality in San Luis Potosí. Additionally, in Oaxaca, legislator Tania Caballero Navarro has called for increased protection against political violence based on gender to ensure women can safely participate in public life.
