Tanja Szewczenko moves family to Timișoara
Former world figure skating champion Tanja Szewczenko has announced her decision to relocate her family to Timișoara, Romania. The 49-year-old German athlete shared the news on social media, stating that the city offers the lifestyle her family has been seeking after months of searching.
Szewczenko cited the city's history, Baroque architecture, and cultural offerings as key factors in her decision. She specifically noted Timișoara's nickname, ‘Little Vienna’, and its Habsburg heritage. Beyond aesthetics, she described the city as safe, clean, and green, noting that the atmosphere and local people were significant influences.
The move is also driven by the needs of her three children, who will attend an international school in Timișoara. Szewczenko and her husband, Norman Jeschke, aim to escape a high-pressure lifestyle in favor of a more independent rhythm that allows them to be more present for their children. The family previously resided in Cologne and Dubai.
