Tanjung Lesung promotes sport fishing to boost marine tourism

Authorities in Pandeglang Regency, Banten, are promoting the development of sport fishing to strengthen Tanjung Lesung's position as a marine tourism destination. The region leverages its 307-kilometer coastline, one of the longest in Banten Province, to attract visitors through active recreational activities.

To support this initiative, the Tuna Game Fishing Competition 2026 was held in the Sunda Strait waters, featuring 299 anglers from 74 teams across Indonesia. This event serves as a form of sport tourism intended to combine competition with the promotion of marine resources and environmental conservation.

Officials expect improved accessibility via upcoming toll road operations to further increase domestic and international tourist numbers. The management of the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone aims to expand the scale of such events in the future.
