Tanjung Lesung tourism remains active despite Anak Krakatau eruption

Tourism activities in Tanjung Lesung, Banten, continue to operate normally despite ongoing volcanic activity from Mount Anak Krakatau. Local facilities, including accommodations and beach recreation areas, remain functional and safe for visitors.

According to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), Mount Anak Krakatau is currently at Level III (Alert) status. While continuous eruption episodes have ended, authorities continue to monitor the volcano for potential follow-up eruptions.

Geographically, Tanjung Lesung is located approximately 50 to 60 kilometers from the volcano, placing it well outside the three-kilometer danger radius established by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Officials have stated that visiting the area is safe for tourists as long as they follow official information regarding volcanic activity.
