Ipoh motorcycle convoy crash kills three people

A high-speed motorcycle convoy accident on Jalan Jelapang–Ampang in Ipoh resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries. Preliminary investigations by Perak police suggest the group was traveling at high speeds and attempting to weave through traffic when they lost control and collided with a Toyota Vios.

The collision triggered a chain reaction, causing a second group of motorcyclists to crash into the initial wreckage. In total, 20 individuals were involved in the incident. Among the victims, nine male motorcyclists sustained various injuries, including a 19-year-old currently in the intensive care unit at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin noted that the area is a known hotspot for illegal street racing and road hooliganism. Police have recorded statements from 15 individuals, including three car drivers, and are continuing investigations to identify all parties and the exact cause of the crash.
