Tanjung Malim AHTV realizes RM7 billion in investments
The Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim has realized RM7 billion in investments between 2018 and 2026. Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin announced that these developments include significant upgrades to Proton’s manufacturing facilities, such as expanded capacity for metal stamping, painting, and assembly, alongside the production of advanced engines and transmissions.
To improve energy efficiency, a 12-megawatt-peak solar farm has been established within the Proton factory grounds. Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026, planned developments include an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant, new logistics centers, warehouses, and research and development laboratories.
The AHTV is a strategic partnership between DRB-Hicom Bhd and Geely. While RM7 billion has been realized, the total investment for the AHTV ecosystem is estimated to reach between RM30 billion and RM40 billion by 2035. Employment at the site is projected to grow from 2,000 workers in 2018 to 22,800 by 2030.
