Tanjung Perak Port dredging corruption case results in prison sentences

The Surabaya Corruption Court has sentenced six former officials to four years in prison regarding a corruption case involving the dredging of the Tanjung Perak Port basin during 2023–2024. The defendants include three former officials from PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3—Ardhy Wahyu Basuki, Hendiek Eko Setiantoro, and Erna Hayu Handayani—and three former officials from PT Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya (APBS)—Firmansyah, Made Yuni Christina, and Dwi Wahyu Setiawan.

While the court noted that the defendants did not personally profit from the project, the judges ruled that their actions failed to implement Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles and resulted in significant benefits for the corporation, PT APBS, totaling approximately Rp82.2 billion. In addition to the prison sentences, each defendant was ordered to pay a fine of Rp200 million.

Defense counsel expressed disappointment with the verdict, arguing that the court applied uniform sentences without distinguishing between the specific roles and levels of involvement of each individual.
