Tanjungpinang police investigate discovery of human remains

Human remains were discovered in the Kampung Mekar Jaya area of Tanjungpinang Timur on Monday, August 10, 2026. A local resident found the skeleton near a water storage structure while returning from a nearby land fire.

The remains, believed to be those of a male, were found without clothing and in a dried state. Following the discovery, the Tanjungpinang Timur Police and identification teams secured the scene to conduct an initial investigation.

The skeleton has been transported to Raja Ahmad Tabib Hospital for medical examination and a forensic autopsy to determine the cause of death. Authorities are currently working to identify the individual and have urged anyone who may be missing a family member to contact the Tanjungpinang Police.
