Tanjungpinang small businesses face declining sales
Small business owners in Tanjungpinang are reporting a significant decline in revenue due to a weakening economy and reduced consumer purchasing power throughout 2026. Local culinary vendors have noted that daily sales have dropped by more than 50 percent, with some reporting a decrease from 10 portions per day to only 3 or 4.
Vendors have expressed frustration regarding government involvement, noting that while agencies such as the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) frequently conduct surveys and data collection, these efforts have not yet resulted in tangible support, such as business capital assistance. Local traders are calling on the Tanjungpinang City Government to provide concrete aid to help micro and small enterprises recover.
