Tank Chair anime debuts on Amazon Prime Video

The anime series ‘Tank Chair’, an adaptation of Manabu Yashiro’s manga, has debuted on Amazon Prime Video. Produced by Polygon Pictures, the story follows Nagi Taira, a former elite assassin who remains in a near-vegetative state and uses a wheelchair after a mission gone wrong. Nagi only regains consciousness and strength when he senses lethal intent from others.

His sister, Shizuka Taira, acts as an assassin broker and seeks to rehabilitate her brother by taking on dangerous contracts. In the first episode, Shizuka accepts a job to eliminate Goro Arashiyama, the leader of a violent robbery gang, to trigger Nagi’s awakening. The series is set in a gritty, cyberpunk-style urban environment.

Critical reception of the premiere highlights the unique concept of a wheelchair-bound protagonist but notes mixed feelings regarding the CGI animation quality. While the background art and character dynamics are praised, some viewers found the motion of the CGI to be unnatural.
