Tanker truck overturns near Łowicz, blocking road

A tanker truck overturned on Monday, September 21, near Świeryż Drugi in the Łowicz municipality, causing a complete blockage of the county road between Niedźwiada and Złaków Kościelny. The accident occurred around 8:40 PM and involved a Volvo truck with a tanker trailer.

According to local police, the 61-year-old driver was performing an improper reverse maneuver, which caused the vehicle to veer onto a soft shoulder, lose stability, and tip onto its side. The driver was sober and received a fine. The tanker was carrying distillery wash, intended for use as animal feed, and a small leak occurred due to a breach in the tank.

Emergency services from JRG Łowicz and OSP Świeryż Drugi responded to the scene. The recovery operation, which required heavy equipment to upright the tanker and prepare the vehicle for towing, lasted approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes. During this time, motorists were forced to use alternative routes.
