Tanzania advances energy and water infrastructure projects
Tanzania is advancing infrastructure projects in the energy and water sectors to boost economic productivity. The government has implemented an electricity distribution project covering 582 areas for small-scale miners, agriculture, and industries in mainland Tanzania. This project, executed through the Rural Energy Agency (REA) at a cost of 115 billion Tanzanian shillings, is nearing completion.
In the water sector, Minister Jumaa Aweso outlined eight priorities for the 2026/2027 fiscal year. These include completing the national water resources master plan, implementing the National Water Grid, and establishing a plan to bring water from Lake Victoria to Dodoma. The government aims to ensure safe working environments for public servants to improve service delivery to citizens.
