Tanzania and DRC agree to cooperate on mineral trade
Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix Tshisekedi have agreed to cooperate on the mining and marketing of precious minerals from the DRC.
Following talks in Zanzibar, the two leaders signed agreements to enhance bilateral trade, improve border services, and increase private sector involvement in regional development. A key component of the partnership involves adding value to mineral products and ensuring they reach markets through joint research and knowledge sharing, including utilizing Tanzania’s gemstone center.
The leaders also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security to support economic development for both nations and the broader region.
