Tanzania and Malawi Presidents Call for Unity During Eid al-Adha
President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania used Eid al‑Adha to urge Tanzanians to celebrate with peace, generosity and respect for those in need. In a message posted on Instagram, she highlighted the holiday’s lessons of humility and solidarity, and national prayers were held at the King Mohammed VI Mosque in Dar es Salaam with government officials in attendance. Minister for Works Abdallah Ulega delivered an Eid Baraza on behalf of the president, reaffirming the importance of national peace and social cohesion.
President Peter Mutharika of Malawi likewise addressed the Muslim community during Eid al‑Adha, calling on all Malawians to prioritize unity, peace and mutual respect. He linked the festival’s themes of sacrifice and charity to the country’s broader goals of social harmony and national progress, urging citizens of all faiths to support one another and work together toward shared goals.
