Tanzania and Oman launch strategic economic cooperation
Tanzania and Oman have launched a new era of strategic cooperation following the first bilateral summit held in Muscat on September 28, 2026. The meeting, led by Omani Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Sheikh Khalifa Al-Harthy, aims to leverage the geographic positions of both nations to serve as trade and investment hubs connecting Africa and the Gulf.
During the summit, Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Dennis Londo, invited the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) to invest in processing industries, natural gas, and minerals through public-private partnerships. The two nations discussed expanding cooperation across several key sectors, including agriculture, health, education, the blue economy, tourism, and formal employment.
This diplomatic shift seeks to align the implementation of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050 with the Oman Vision 2040, moving the relationship from historical cultural ties toward robust economic and investment integration.
