Tanzania and Oman sign media cooperation agreements

Tanzania and the Sultanate of Oman have signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation within the media sector. The agreements were finalized on October 1, 2026, in Dar es Salaam during the Tanzania-Oman Journalists’ Forum.

The partnership involves the Oman Journalists Association (OJA), the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF), and the Tanzania Union of Media Workers (JOWUTA). Key objectives of the collaboration include the exchange of professional experience, skills, and knowledge, as well as opening new economic and investment opportunities through media channels.

Ambassador Abdallah Kilima, Director of the Middle East Department at Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that the cooperation will focus on digital news training, information verification, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI). The forum also highlighted the media's role in promoting tourism and bilateral relations between the two nations.
