Tanzania approves 13 billion Shillings for Loya Bridge construction

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved 13 billion Tanzanian Shillings for the construction of the Loya Bridge. The project aims to connect the Loya and Miswaki wards in the Uyui district with the Igunga district in the Tabora region.

Of the total funds, 10.4 billion Shillings are allocated directly to construction, while the remainder will cover consultancy fees for engineering and project supervision. The bridge is expected to be completed within one year.

Local officials state the bridge will improve the transportation of agricultural products to markets and provide a safer alternative to the current makeshift wooden ferry, which has resulted in loss of life and property during rainy seasons.
