Tanzania calls for digital innovation investment and land restoration support
At a technology and fintech conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzanian government officials and private sector leaders called for increased investment in youth digital skills. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Angellah Kairuki emphasized that young people should transition from being mere consumers of foreign technology to becoming creators of digital solutions tailored to African challenges.
Separately, at the 17th UNCCD COP meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Tanzania’s Minister of State in the Vice President's Office, Hamad Masauni, urged the international community to increase funding and technology transfers to combat land degradation, desertification, and drought. Masauni highlighted that factors such as deforestation, agricultural expansion, and unsustainable land use are driving degradation in Tanzania, and noted the importance of protecting grazing lands and water sources.
