Tanzania forms investment committee in Kisarawe and opens mining opportunities for women and youth

The Kisarawe District Council created a six‑member investment committee chaired by lawyer Wakili Alkard Machumu, with Joakim Costa as secretary. The committee will run a One‑Stop Centre to streamline land and project approvals across sectors such as industry, tourism, agriculture, livestock, sports, entertainment and education. Council Chair Aidan Kitare said the move aims to boost revenue, attract investors and generate new income sources; the council has already collected over 700 million shillings in a month.

The national government announced new business opportunities in the mining sector, giving priority to women and youth to increase their participation. Mining director Hassan Mkumba listed 20 services and products that Tanzanian firms can supply, ranging from drilling equipment and safety gear to laboratory analysis and logistics. The initiative supports the Vision 2050 development plan by creating jobs, enhancing local value‑addition and expanding the contribution of mineral resources to the economy.
