Tanzania government clarifies state organs belong to all citizens
A debate has intensified in Tanzania regarding the ownership of state security and defense organs. The controversy began following remarks by Paul Chacha, the Secretary of the CCM National Executive Committee, who claimed that the country's defense and security apparatus, as well as government ministers, belong to the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party.
In response to these claims, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, a Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, clarified that state organs belong to all Tanzanians. Speaking at a Political Parties Council, Kabudi emphasized that security institutions are national assets rather than party property, noting that the presence of police commanders at such forums underscores their role as public servants for the entire nation.
