Tanzania government pledges continued cooperation with religious denominations
The Tanzanian government has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with religious denominations to enhance spiritual guidance, social services, and national unity.
Speaking at the consecration of Bishop John Jumanne Wambura of the Mennonite Church of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, Minister of State Deus Sangu emphasized the vital role religious leaders play in providing counseling and supporting vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows, and people with disabilities. He noted the government recognizes the contribution of religious institutions to the health and education sectors, particularly in remote areas.
In response, Archbishop Nelson Kisare of the Mennonite Church urged religious leaders to serve their communities with integrity and act as moral examples rather than seeking personal gain.
