Tanzania Minister urges relocation from Msimbazi River risk zones

Tanzanian Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office, Hamad Yussuf Masauni, has urged citizens living in high-risk areas, particularly along the Msimbazi River, to relocate to safer locations. This warning comes in response to weather forecasts regarding El Nino, which pose significant risks to lives and property.

Masauni emphasized that residents should seek alternative housing as current environments are unsafe. He also called on citizens nationwide to follow expert guidance and urged local leaders to ensure urban cleanliness by preventing waste from being dumped into rivers and drainage systems. Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo noted that the government will continue working with the public and the private sector to ensure waterways remain clear for efficient water flow during rainy seasons.
