Tanzania officials address AFCON stadium costs and journalist AI training

Tanzanian Minister for Information, Arts, Culture and Sports, Dr. Riziki Pembe Juma, announced that the Ministry is providing artificial intelligence training to journalists. Conducted in partnership with China Africa AI Media, the program aims to equip reporters with skills in using AI for news collection, analysis, and presentation. Graduates will be tasked with training their colleagues to ensure technological proficiency across the media industry.

Separately, Minister Paul Makonda addressed parliamentary inquiries regarding the rising construction costs of the Arusha stadium, also known as the Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium. Makonda explained that the budget increased from an initial 187 billion Shillings to 330.8 billion Shillings due to new requirements set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the AFCON 2027 finals. He emphasized that the upgrades, which include sky boxes and elevators, are necessary to meet international standards. The Arusha stadium project is currently being developed to support Tanzania's co-hosting of the tournament alongside Kenya and Uganda.
