Tanzania PPRA reports 430,643 tenders issued via NeST system
Dennis Simba, the Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), announced that 430,643 tenders valued at 42.6 trillion Tanzanian Shillings have been issued through the National e-Procurement System (NeST).
Approximately 70 percent of the total government budget is utilized through public procurement. The implementation of NeST has increased compliance with procurement laws from 65 percent in the 2023/24 fiscal year to 79 percent in 2025/26. The digital system has also saved an estimated 27.64 billion Shillings by preventing the printing of over 288 million pages of tender documents and reducing travel requirements for bidders.
To enhance security and efficiency, NeST is now integrated with over 30 systems, including banking, payments, social security, and licensing. The system is currently integrated with NMB Bank, while TCB and CRDB are in the final stages of integration. Additionally, a new bank security portal launched on October 1, 2026, has connected more than 36 banks to facilitate the issuance and verification of bid securities.
