Tanzania prepares for 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Arusha

Preparations are complete for the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly in Arusha, Tanzania. Out of 183 member nations, 159 have confirmed their participation for the event, which is scheduled to take place from October 5 to 9, 2026, at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).

Speaker of the National Assembly Mussa Azzan Zungu stated that the high level of participation highlights the importance of the meeting and provides Tanzania with a significant international platform. He encouraged local residents and businesses in Arusha to leverage the arrival of over 2,000 participants to promote local services, tourism, and Tanzanian products such as Tanzanite and cashews.

Local entrepreneurs have expressed optimism that the gathering will serve as a major opportunity to market traditional Tanzanian goods, including leather products, handicrafts, and cultural attire, to a global audience.
