Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan reshuffles regional leadership

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has implemented significant administrative changes, including the appointment and transfer of several Regional Commissioners and Regional Administrative Secretaries. The reshuffle affects multiple regions, including Mwanza, Geita, Pwani, Mbeya, and others, as part of a leadership reorganization announced by the State House.

In addition to these administrative shifts, President Hassan’s administration is being noted for the completion of major infrastructure projects. Specifically, the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) reached 100 percent completion as of August 2026. When the President took office in March 2021, the project was at 37 percent completion; her administration oversaw the remaining 63 percent of the implementation despite previous skepticism regarding the ability to finish large-scale projects initiated by her predecessor, the late Dr. John Magufuli.
