Tanzania to host Doha Dialogue on labor migration

Tanzania will host the second Doha Dialogue on labor migration and employment in Dar es Salaam on October 5 and 6. This marks the first time the biennial summit will be held on the African continent.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Labor, Employment, and Relations) Deus Sangu stated that the forum aims to strengthen cooperation between African nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC+) members, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain, as well as Jordan and Lebanon. The event is expected to feature President Samia Suluhu Hassan as the guest of honor.

The discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral employment agreements, aligning worker skills with market demands, and developing labor migration systems capable of adapting to technological changes and new market requirements to promote decent work.
