Tanzania urges African nations to prioritize policy implementation

Representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Alamein-Africa Business Forum in Egypt, Tanzanian Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi urged African nations to prioritize the implementation of existing policies and strategies. He emphasized that while the continent possesses robust development frameworks, there is an urgent need to translate these plans into tangible benefits for citizens to better withstand global economic uncertainties and regional conflicts.

Ndejembi highlighted energy and infrastructure as critical drivers for growth. He cited Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 2,115 megawatts, as an example of strategic investment aimed at achieving universal electricity access by 2050. Under Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050, the country is focusing on increasing production through natural gas and renewable energy sources, while promoting cross-border investment and deeper economic integration across Africa.
