Tanzania warns sisal traders against international market fraud

Tanzania's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Dennis Londo, has warned sisal traders against engaging in fraudulent activities in international markets. Speaking in Tanga, Londo directed the Tanzania Sisal Board (TSB) to take immediate action against traders accused of collecting payments from foreign buyers without delivering the promised goods.

Londo emphasized that such deceptive practices damage the country's reputation and jeopardize the credibility of honest traders. He noted that in the global market, fraudulent individuals are identified by their nationality rather than just their specific company, which could force the government to expend significant resources to restore Tanzania's international standing.

Saddy Kambona, the Executive Director of the TSB, acknowledged that these challenges have been observed during visits to global sisal markets.
