Tanzanian Secondary Schools Launch New Programs and Fundraising

Mafiga Secondary School in Tanzania has begun implementing practical agricultural education in partnership with Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Students demonstrated their skills during a visit by Minister of Industry and Trade Judith Kapinga at the SUA campus on Aug 1, 2026. The program blends classroom theory with hands‑on training on school farms, laboratories and modern equipment, aiming to produce graduates equipped for the agricultural sector and the job market.

Tosamaganga Secondary School, also in Tanzania, launched a fundraising campaign to raise one billion shillings for infrastructure upgrades and a new student bus as part of its centenary celebrations marking 100 years since its founding in 1926. The drive, announced by Iringa Municipal Mayor Benjamin Sitta, will involve alumni, the school, private companies and other stakeholders. Funds will be used to repair buildings, improve roads, purchase desks and the bus, and support other development projects ahead of jubilee events scheduled for October.
