Tanzania's TAWA wins two World Travel Awards for Selous and Mpanga-Kipengere
The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) has arrived in Morogoro following its success at the 2026 World Travel Awards. The authority’s Selous and Mpanga-Kipengere reserves secured two awards during the ceremony held in Zanzibar on August 28, 2026.
Acting TAWA Conservation Commissioner Mlage Y. Kabange credited President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to promote Tanzania internationally, specifically citing the films ‘The Royal Tour’ and ‘Amazing Tanzania’ as key drivers for global visibility. Kabange noted that this victory is particularly significant as it marks TAWA’s first year participating in the competition.
The awards have already generated interest from tourism stakeholders. A Zanzibar-based airline has expressed readiness to establish direct flights to the Mpanga-Kipengere reserve once the necessary infrastructure is in place, signaling potential growth in tourism revenue and investment.
