Taormina cultural events: Film Festival returns to Rai and 50 years of theatre celebrated

The Taormina Film Festival is returning to Rai broadcasting after an eight-year absence. On Tuesday, August 25, Rai2 will air a 75-minute special covering the highlights of the 72nd edition held at the Teatro Antico. Hosted by Tiziana Rocca, the program will feature segments on Oscar winners such as Helen Mirren, Russell Crowe, and Jane Campion, alongside Italian cinema figures like Giancarlo Giannini and Franco Nero.

Additionally, the Teatro Antico will host the 'Festa del Teatro' on September 3 to celebrate 50 years of prose in Taormina. The event will present the Taormina Arte Prize for Theatre to eleven artists, including Gabriele Lavia, Marisa Laurito, and Manuel Agnelli. The ceremony will feature personal interventions and performances chosen by the award recipients, guided by artistic director Simona Celi.
