Taoyuan advances AI substrate and drone industry hubs

Taoyuan Mayor Chang Shan-cheng is advancing industrial development in the Aviation City and Yangmei districts to capture opportunities in the AI and low-altitude economy sectors.

In Aviation City, a dedicated zone for high-end IC substrates is being established. To support the high power demands of these facilities, the city will assist companies in applying for 161kV extra-high voltage power and coordinate with Taipower to accelerate substation construction. The government plans to provide land through surface rights to reduce the initial capital burden on enterprises. A memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed in October with the Taiwan Printed Circuit Board Association, Unimicron, and Kosmax to implement the development blueprint.

Additionally, the city is developing a drone industry base in the Yangmei District. The Youshi Youth Entrepreneurship Park is scheduled to complete its first phase by mid-2025, featuring test flight fields and factories to create a complete supply chain for drone research, production, assembly, and testing. The second phase of this project is slated for completion by 2030.
