NYPD seizes 580 pounds of cocaine in decade-high bust
The NYPD, in collaboration with the DEA and other agencies, has executed its largest cocaine seizure in at least a decade. During a raid on a self-storage facility in Queens, authorities intercepted approximately 580 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value exceeding $10 million.
Nelson Salcedo, a 35-year-old man from Englewood, New Jersey, was taken into custody during the operation. The investigation, which spanned several months, targeted a high-level interstate drug trafficking network operating between New York and New Jersey. In addition to the narcotics, law enforcement recovered $170,000 in cash and a firearm.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the operation successfully dismantled a major distribution channel, preventing a massive quantity of drugs from entering local neighborhoods.
