Taoyuan Cup International Baseball Championship progresses with youth tournament highlights

The 11th Taoyuan Cup International Baseball Championship is currently underway, featuring various youth baseball teams competing in the junior division.

In recent matchups, Xiejin Elementary School secured a 10-3 victory over Hsinchu Dongyuan Elementary School, led by pitcher Tsai Peng-cheng, who pitched two scoreless innings. Zhongxiao Junior High School delivered a dominant 17-0 win against Xinpu Junior High, highlighted by pitcher Huang Bing-cheng’s four-inning no-hitter.

Dayong Elementary School, the host team, showed significant offensive power by scoring 15 runs in the first inning against Hualien Fuxing Elementary School, ending the game early after just three innings. Key player Chen Xuan-rui contributed five RBIs, including a triple and an inside-the-park home run.

Meanwhile, Sanguang Junior High School faced challenges due to a depleted roster, as third-year students were absent for mock exams. Despite losing both matches against Guishan and Hulin Junior High Schools, the team utilized the tournament as a training opportunity for younger players.
