Taoyuan elementary student alleges teacher bullying
A fourth-grade student in Taoyuan, Taiwan, has reportedly been subjected to bullying by a teacher. The student, who has been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome, allegedly faced forced feeding that resulted in vomiting and was frequently required to stand as punishment in the classroom.
The student’s mother claims that after she filed a complaint and requested a class transfer, the school downgraded the incident from a teacher-to-student bullying case to a general teacher performance evaluation. The teacher involved has since taken a long-term leave of absence. The mother has sought assistance from local officials to ensure a proper investigation is conducted.
The Taoyuan Education Bureau stated that the case is undergoing investigation through teacher-to-student bullying procedures. They noted that because initial assessments did not meet the threshold for dismissal or non-renewal, the matter was handled via performance evaluation protocols, though they added that the process could be escalated if serious violations are discovered.
