Taoyuan expands transit network with MRT extension and new bus line

Taoyuan is advancing its public transit infrastructure through two major developments. The electromechanical system engineering contract for the Taoyuan MRT Green Line extension to Zhongli has been officially signed. This 7.1-kilometer extension is expected to be completed by 2031 and will integrate the Green Line with the Airport MRT and Taiwan Railways at Zhongli station, creating a three-rail integrated system. The project includes seven trains, tracks, and core systems such as power supply, signaling, and communications.

Additionally, the TAB New Taoyuan Trunk Line South Ring Line has officially commenced operations. Operated by Capital Bus, the line utilizes a dual-direction circular service (clockwise and counter-clockwise) to connect the living areas of Zhongli, Neili, and Pingzhen. The service aims to link various transit modes, including Taiwan Railways and the Airport MRT, while serving several local schools. To mark the launch, rides on the South Ring Line are currently free for passengers using electronic cards.
