Taoyuan Formosa Dreamers acquire Kenny Chien in major trade

The Taoyuan Formosa Dreamers have announced a major trade with the Taipei New Taipei Taishin Warriors to acquire defensive specialist Kenny Chien. In exchange, the Dreamers will send cash and their first-round draft picks for the 2027 and 2029 rookie drafts to the Warriors.

Dreamers General Manager Yan Hsing-shu noted that the acquisition follows long-term negotiations aimed at enhancing the team's defensive capabilities and roster depth under head coach Henrik Rödl. Chien, 31, brings extensive experience from the ABL, PLG, and TPBL, having previously earned accolades such as PLG Defensive First Team honors.

Chien's arrival is expected to create healthy competition within the team, particularly alongside local talent Chuang Po-yuan. Chien expressed excitement about reuniting with former teammate Malcolm Miller and stated his primary goal is to help the Dreamers pursue a championship following their regular-season leadership last year.
