Taoyuan healthcare providers launch digital literacy and AI training initiatives

Healthcare institutions in Taoyuan are implementing digital literacy initiatives to bridge the generational technology gap and enhance medical services through artificial intelligence.

St. Paul Hospital has been conducting community outreach programs to teach elderly residents how to use smartphones for essential tasks, such as using digital maps for navigation and utilizing digital ordering systems for meals. These sessions also integrate medical expertise, teaching seniors about medications and general health knowledge to encourage social interaction and mental well-being.

Simultaneously, the Taoyuan Psychiatric Center, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, has launched an ‘AI Seed Workshop’ for its staff. This program focuses on large language models (LLM) and generative AI to improve administrative efficiency, such as automating meeting minutes and creating digital audio picture books for health education. The training emphasizes the importance of human oversight in decision-making and maintains strict data security and de-identification protocols to ensure safe technological integration.
