Taoyuan Mayor honors childcare providers and outlines parenting support policies

Taoyuan Mayor Chang Shan-cheng attended an awards ceremony to honor outstanding childcare institutions and personnel for the 115th year. The event recognized 130 individuals and organizations, including 10 childcare institutions and 90 excellent childcare workers, as well as administrative and support staff.

Mayor Chang noted that Taoyuan's population has increased by approximately 80,000 people over the last four years, the highest growth among the six major metropolitan areas in Taiwan. He attributed this trend to the city's efforts to create a child-friendly environment through comprehensive welfare and education policies.

Key initiatives mentioned include the expansion of the milk subsidy program, which provides weekly milk or soy milk to students from kindergarten through junior high school. Additionally, the city provides tuition subsidies for five-year-old children in kindergarten to alleviate the financial burden on parents. The Education Bureau aims to continue improving education quality by encouraging innovative curricula and STEAM-based learning.
