Taoyuan Metro Green Line extension to Zhongli begins construction
Construction has officially commenced on the Taoyuan Metro Green Line extension to Zhongli. The project, which includes the GEC04 section, aims to connect the Bade and Zhongli districts, creating a more integrated transit network.
The extension spans approximately 7.1 kilometers with a total budget of NT$36.1 billion. The line will feature six stations, consisting of five underground stations and one elevated station. The route begins at the Bade G01 station and extends west, passing through the Taoyuan Municipal Hospital, Futai Elementary School, and the Zhongli Sports Park, before terminating at the Taiwan Railways Zhongli Station.
Key features of the development include a planned underground connection at the G29 station to the Taoyuan Municipal Hospital and joint development at the G28 station involving the relocation of Futai Elementary School. The project also includes the construction of a depot capable of maintaining at least 15 trains and the creation of new roads to link the Bade and Zhongli Longgang urban planning areas. Once completed, the line will facilitate transfers with the Taiwan Railways and the Taoyuan Airport MRT at station A23.
