Chiapas security operations lead to 57 arrests and major drug seizures

Authorities in Chiapas have conducted a series of large-scale security operations across several municipalities, including Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tapachula, and Benemérito de las Américas. These coordinated efforts by federal and state forces resulted in the arrest of 57 individuals and the seizure of over 5,500 doses of drugs, nine firearms, 157 cartridges, and 12 vehicles.

In Tuxtla Gutiérrez, 34 of the detainees are linked to a violent armed attack in the Las Granjas neighborhood that left three people dead and three injured. Among those captured is a Salvadoran national currently wanted by authorities in El Salvador.

In Suchiapa, the municipal police director, Jesús Antonio 'N', was arrested for allegedly facilitating the escape of a detainee from the municipal jail. The escaped individual is suspected to be a leader of the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel. Investigators are looking into whether other public officials were complicit in the escape.

Additionally, an armed confrontation in Tapachula's El Paraíso neighborhood involving suspected members of the Sinaloa Cartel resulted in one death and one State Guard officer being wounded. Authorities seized various weapons and narcotics during the encounter.
