Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah Holds XVI Muktamar in Semarang, Emphasizing Unity and Dakwah
The Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah (TSPM) convened its sixteenth Muktamar from 6–9 August 2026 at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) in Semarang, Central Java. Around 11,000 participants from all Indonesian provinces and representatives of five foreign countries attended. Governor Ahmad Luthfi highlighted pencak silat as a cultural heritage that builds character, cooperation and national unity. Kapolri Listyo Sigit Prabowo received an honorary membership in TSPM and called for stronger collaboration between police and the martial‑arts organization to safeguard the nation. Minister of Basic Education Abdul Mu’ti praised TSPM as the “front‑line of Muhammadiyah’s dakwah,” noting its role in spreading Islamic values through martial arts across borders. Muhammadiyah’s central leaders, Agung Danarto and Afnan Hadikusumo, urged organizational reforms, integration with Muhammadiyah universities, and the development of silat as an academic and health discipline. The event also featured discussions on updating the organization’s statutes and selecting future leaders.
