TAPIHITO exhibition links Taiwan and Japan through textile design

The TAPIHITO project, a long-term cultural and creative exchange initiative between Taipei and Hamamatsu, Japan, has launched a cross-disciplinary industrial design exhibition. Starting October 10, the exhibition ‘Enshu Textiles · TAPIHITO’ is being held at the Shilin Official Residence in Taipei.

The project, commissioned by Hamamatsu City and promoted by Tony Lin, integrates traditional Enshu textiles from Hamamatsu with the creative talents of Taipei-based designers and artists. The collaborative team includes Tony & Fina, YUYU, and William (Filo). The initiative focuses on transforming traditional textile materials, local history, and regional memories into contemporary lifestyle products, digital imagery, and installation art.

In addition to the textile design showcase at Shilin Official Residence, a dual exhibition titled ‘Before Memory Returns’ by Fina and Tony is being held at Gallery 188. This secondary venue explores the exchange through digital media and interactive installations, incorporating footage and landscapes captured during the team's research visits to Hamamatsu.

The TAPIHITO brand aims to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern daily life, seeking to establish sustainable commercial collaborations and cross-border retail opportunities between Taiwan and Japan.
