Tappara adds Swedish forward William Wiå and defender Olle Strandell
Finnish Liiga club Tappara announced two new signings. The team secured 27‑year‑old Swedish forward William Wiå on a 1+1 year contract with an option for the 2027‑28 season. Wiå, noted for his defensive style and net‑front play, has amassed 113 points in 392 regular‑season games in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan and appeared in 16 SHL games for Djurgårdens IF, registering one assist.
Tappara also signed 26‑year‑old Swedish defenseman Olle Strandell to a one‑year deal. Strandell, who progressed from HockeyEttan to the SHL, posted 19 points in 52 games for Leksands IF and has logged 102 SHL appearances with 23 points overall. Tappara general manager Janne Vuorinen described both players as fitting the club’s needs and highlighted their versatility and development potential.
