Tappara GM Janne Vuorinen outlines plans for CHL comeback
Finnish ice‑hockey club Tappara, the 2023 Champions Hockey League (CHL) champion, is preparing to re‑enter the competition after the winter break. General manager Janne Vuorinen said the team has no specific placement target for the upcoming CHL season, but will aim to win every game and use the tournament to develop players and coaches.
Vuorinen highlighted the CHL’s value for international exposure and player rotation, while acknowledging the league’s financial challenges and recent discussions about its format. The current agreement covers two more seasons, and talks are ongoing among participating clubs and the CHL on possible tournament‑style revisions.
He also noted that Tappara’s previous CHL participation broke even financially, and that any future changes should better serve clubs and European ice hockey overall.
