Taquara hosts ceremony to extinguish the Chama Crioula
The official extinction of the Chama Crioula for the 22nd Traditionalist Region (RT) took place on Sunday in Taquara, marking the formal conclusion of the Semana Farroupilha festivities in the Vale do Paranhana.
The ceremony was held at the headquarters of CTG O Fogão Gaúcho, the entity responsible for guarding the regional flame. During the event, representatives from the Movimento Tradicionalista Gaúcho (MTG) and the CTG reviewed the activities conducted throughout the period. Despite rainfall, a morning horseback ride organized by the CTG drew approximately 300 riders.
João Rogério Machado, coordinator of the 22nd RT, noted that the flame was originally retrieved from Rio Pardo on August 14 and 15 and transported back to the region by horseback. Following its arrival, the flame was distributed to various local entities before being unified under the care of CTG O Fogão Gaúcho for the duration of the celebrations.
