TAR Lazio orders update to judicial expert compensation tables

The TAR Lazio has ordered the Italian Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to update the compensation tables for judicial technical consultants (CTU) and experts, which have remained unchanged since May 2002. The ruling follows an appeal by the Order of Engineers of the Province of Genoa regarding the failure to implement periodic updates required by law.

According to the court's decision, the ministries must intervene within 120 days to revise the fixed, variable, and time-based fees. While the law mandates updates to account for the cost of living, the court noted that the adjustment does not necessarily have to match the ISTAT FOI consumer price index percentage automatically. Estimates from the appeal suggest that the new tariff update could result in an increase of approximately 60 percent for the affected professionals.
